Morro de Sao Paulo, Brazil

Bus, Catamaran, Wheelbarrow and Tractor

We're taking time out and indulging ourselves in a little bit of Paradise on an Island off Salvador called Morro de Sao Paulo. After a night on the bus, reaching the port in Salvador early morning, then waiting for the catamaran, 2 hrs later we arrived on this island (it had been recommended to us).

We again were a wee bit suspicious of the porters willing to carry luggage. However, if you could see our luggage now, you would understand that any assistance is appreciated. Thank goodness we agreed as the ascent from the port was steep and the walk through the ritzy village to the centre was sandy (Wheels don't like sand.). The porters obligingly stacked luggage into the wheelbarrows to make it easy for us just to walk. They took us 2 the next mode of transport - a tractor pulling a trailer of car seats. 20 mins later we reached the hotel.

This little piece of paradise is only accessible by tractor - along the beach - horseback, or a very long walk so it is quite secluded. It is right on the edge of the 'Oceana Atlantica' and at high tide the water laps right at the front door. Palm trees, sunshine, surf, hummingbirds and we feel like we're in heaven.

There are 5 beaches, our home is on Beach 4, the quiet beach. Last night we took the tractor into beach 1 where all the action is, had a nice dinner and walked back in the moonlight past all the beaches. It was perfectly romantic.

Oh one other thing I should tell you. Paul has purchased a finger harp made from a sardine tin and coconut wood. He is composing some beautiful tunes including one he just played called 'The Lizard' - inspired by the bigger than slipperies that are around here and how they twitch their heads from side to side.

Leaving this little bit of paradise today and will arrive in Rio De Janeiro tonight.

From The VeeBees
escrita excelente da aventura Robby,

Time for my weekly ‘Google’ view of South America at robbypaul.blogspot.com. I’ve just conjured up a mental picture of ‘senior Condor do Inca do flamingo de Anacond’ doing the coca leaf lambada in a Salvador jazz bar playing his finger harp. Seems so normal from here. Your night at the Theatre Amazonian must have been a buzz and Morro de Sao Paulo sounds a wonderful place to recharge the batteries. South America, named after Amerigo Vespucci, the first European to suggest that the Americas were not the East Indies, but a ‘New World’ unknown to Europeans and your descriptions make it seems just so. Winter is nearly here with cool nights but the days have been blue and warm. Coffee at Terrigal is not exactly ‘St Germaine de Pre’ but still very enjoyable. Well friends keep enjoying your adventure and we look forward to more installments……..

muito happines e sorte boa
V+V.

Manhã boa, de Narara ensolarado. Nós estamos na casa do número 14 com vistas do arbusto e da vida a mais fantástica do pássaro para croon nos de nosso sono.
or
Good morning from Narara. We are at number 14 with views of the bush and the most fantastic bird life to croon us from our sleep. (or something like that)
That Vic Barry is such a show off with all his knowledge.
Today we will be taking the 4-wheeled wagon and embarking on an epic venture free-wheeling down the road to encapture the wonderful envigorating ions washing ashore from the diamond sparkling pacific and partaking of a cafe or two with a simply mouth-watering slice of lime tart lightly dusted with icing sugar and a dollop of King Island cream. This is to celebrate to 55th year of Vic's entrance to this world. Following this we will meander the pristine golden sands off the Crown Plaza resort and frolic in the crystal clear water with the waves gently lapping our feet. Nearby is a small village where the stall holders peddle their wares and entice just one more peso from ones pocket to help support their struggling families. Today we are embrasing the first day of winter and it dawns clear and sunny with the raucous call of the sulphur crested cockatoos resounding across the valley and high up to the hills. The manicured lawn outside our door is crisp with the mornings dew and beckons ones tootsies !!!!. Salut xxx

I'm soooo enjoying this new travel experience along with the two of you! Went to Marie and Marty's wedding last Sunday, and it was an uplifting and social event. It was like an e-learning conference that spanned the years!!! [grin]

Keep enjoying your journey - I'm so very jealous. :-)
